

Baguio City โ Caraga State University (CSU) took part as a co-host of the 4th International Research Colloquium held at the University of Baguio, a major academic forum centered on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research and innovation
The event gathered university leaders, scholars, and practitioners to exchange insights, showcase good practices, and strengthen collaboration for sustainability-driven development.
Organized by the University of Baguio through its Research, Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach (RECO) unit, the colloquium adopted the theme โSustainable Development Goals through Researchersโ Lens.โ The program highlighted how higher education institutions can translate SDG commitments into concrete research, innovation, and extension initiatives that generate measurable social impact.
Representing CSU, Dr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa, Vice President for Research, Development, Innovation, and Extension and Chairperson of the Universityโs Sustainability (SDG) Committee, delivered a presentation during the SDG Good Practices session. He discussed how CSU has been institutionalizing sustainability through strategic research agenda setting, strengthened governance mechanisms, and community- and industry-engaged innovation. He was joined by Dr. Temmy Vales, Director of the Research, Development, and Innovation Services Office (RDISO), who also represented the university and supported the sharing of CSUโs research and innovation management practices.
CSUโs participation in the colloquium comes on the heels of its improved standing in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, where the university posted notable gains across several priority SDGs. CSU ranked Top 1 in the Philippines and 44th globally for SDG 1: No Poverty, underscoring the impact of its community-engaged research and extension programs. The university likewise placed among the Top 3 in the Philippines for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), Top 5 for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and Top 6 for SDG 5 (Gender Equality), all within the 601โ800 global band. These results highlight CSUโs deliberate, systems-based approach to aligning research, governance, and outreach with the SDGs.
CSU joined the event as an official co-host alongside Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya (Jakarta, Indonesia), Mindanao State UniversityโIligan Institute of Technology, Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, Baguio Central University, and Central Mindanao University, reflecting the expanding network of regional and international partnerships focused on sustainability and development-oriented research.
The colloquium also recognized the support of university leaders and partners, including Prof. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, JD, LLD, Chancellor of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology; Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, President of Caraga State University; Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K), Rector of Atma Jaya Catholic University; Dr. Margarita Cecilda B. Rillera, President of Baguio Central University; Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, President of Central Mindanao University; and Dr. Ma. Lilia Posadas-Juan, President of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, among others.
CSUโs role as co-host reinforces the universityโs commitment to research excellence, innovation, and community engagement anchored on sustainability and regional development priorities. Through platforms like the International Research Colloquium, CSU continues to deepen partnerships with local and international institutions while contributing to a shared agenda of evidence-based, impact-oriented higher education.
