The Office of the Vice President for Research & Development, Innovation and Extension (OVPRDIE)is responsible for recommending to the University President policies, strategies, guidelines, and budgetary allocations, among others pertaining to research, innovation and extension. Additionally, the OVPRIE oversees the planning, execution, and evaluation of all programs in the domains of research, innovation, extension, and commercialization, including essential collaborations with institutional partners.
Research and Extension Services
The Caraga State University (CSU) is a state-funded institution tasked to provide quality professional and technological training in the northeastern Mindanao area, the Caraga Region. As a state institution, its mandate is to support sustainable socio-economic development through the basic functions of instructions, research, extension and production. To attain this noble mission, a sound Extension and Community Outreach Program should be formulated and carried out to answer the technological and information needs of its service area

NAVIGATU, the DOST TBI for University StartUps
The Innovation and Technopreneurship Hub (iTecH) of Caraga State University, a DOST – Technology Business Incubator facility, is branded as Navigatú. Coined from the word navigation and is inspired by the rich history of Butuan’s Balangay Boats as the oldest wooden watercraft excavated in the region that showed evidence of our trading relationships all throughout Southeast Asia in as early as 700 AD. Butuan’s early establishment of trading in the harbor became an inspiration of the TBI branding — Navigatú, with its promise to embark aspiring entrepreneurs to a voyage of innovations that will come to its success in no time.

Hero Learning Common Innovation Spaces
The HERO Learning Common in CSU provides innovation spaces that are designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation among students, faculty, and researchers. These spaces often provide access to resources, tools, and technologies to support various forms of innovative projects, research, and learning activities. Hero Learning Common Innovation Spaces often host events, workshops, and seminars on topics related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies. These events facilitate knowledge sharing and networking.

Featured RDI Center: SUMMO (MineGears)
At the heart of research and innovation within a university, researchers and their RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) centers often require specialized spaces to carry out their work effectively. These spaces are crucial for fostering a conducive environment for research, collaboration, and innovation. Innovation hubs or centers provide researchers with collaborative spaces where they can brainstorm ideas, work on innovative projects, and engage with colleagues from different disciplines.
