Baguio City<\/strong> \u2014 Caraga State University (CSU) took part as a co-host of the 4th International Research Colloquium<\/strong> held at the University of Baguio, a major academic forum centered on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong> through research and innovation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event gathered university leaders, scholars, and practitioners to exchange insights, showcase good practices, and strengthen collaboration for sustainability-driven development.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized by the University of Baguio through its Research, Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach (RECO)<\/strong> unit, the colloquium adopted the theme \u201cSustainable Development Goals through Researchers\u2019 Lens.\u201d<\/em> The program highlighted how higher education institutions can translate SDG commitments into concrete research, innovation, and extension initiatives that generate measurable social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing CSU, Dr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa<\/strong>, Vice President for Research, Development, Innovation, and Extension and Chairperson of the University\u2019s Sustainability (SDG) Committee, delivered a presentation during the SDG Good Practices<\/strong> session. He discussed how CSU has been institutionalizing sustainability through strategic research agenda setting, strengthened governance mechanisms, and community- and industry-engaged innovation<\/strong>. He was joined by Dr. Temmy Vales<\/strong>, Director of the Research, Development, and Innovation Services Office (RDISO)<\/strong>, who also represented the university and supported the sharing of CSU\u2019s research and innovation management practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSU\u2019s participation in the colloquium comes on the heels of its improved standing in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025<\/strong>, where the university posted notable gains across several priority SDGs. CSU ranked Top 1 in the Philippines and 44th globally for SDG 1: No Poverty<\/strong>, underscoring the impact of its community-engaged research and extension programs. The university likewise placed among the Top 3 in the Philippines<\/strong> for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)<\/strong> and SDG 4 (Quality Education)<\/strong>, Top 5<\/strong> for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)<\/strong>, and Top 6<\/strong> for SDG 5 (Gender Equality)<\/strong>, all within the 601\u2013800 global band<\/strong>. These results highlight CSU\u2019s deliberate, systems-based approach to aligning research, governance, and outreach with the SDGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSU joined the event as an official co-host alongside Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya (Jakarta, Indonesia), Mindanao State University\u2013Iligan Institute of Technology, Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, Baguio Central University, and Central Mindanao University<\/strong>, reflecting the expanding network of regional and international partnerships focused on sustainability and development-oriented research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colloquium also recognized the support of university leaders and partners, including Prof. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, JD, LLD<\/strong>, Chancellor of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology; Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil<\/strong>, President of Caraga State University; Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K)<\/strong>, Rector of Atma Jaya Catholic University; Dr. Margarita Cecilda B. Rillera<\/strong>, President of Baguio Central University; Dr. Rolito G. Eballe<\/strong>, President of Central Mindanao University; and Dr. Ma. Lilia Posadas-Juan<\/strong>, President of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSU\u2019s role as co-host reinforces the university\u2019s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and community engagement<\/strong> anchored on sustainability and regional development priorities.
