CSU-CREME researchers Champion Climate Resilience with Biodiversity Insights at LIKHA Summit's 1st Regional Climate Change Action and Innovation Forum

Butuan City, Philippines – Four Science Research Specialists from Caraga State University's Center for Research in Environmental Management and Eco-Governance presented their studies at the 1st Regional Climate Change Action and Innovation Forum during the LIKHA Summit on October 29, 2024, held at CSU Hero Learning Commons. The forum focused on "Envisioning Resilient Futures: Strategic Foresight for Climate Action in the Caraga Region and Beyond."

The RAF-funded project on “𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞 (𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐒),” implemented by the Center for Research in Environmental Management and Eco-Governance (CREME),

Implemented by the Center for Research in Environmental Management and Eco-Governance (CREME), conducted a three-day comprehensive reconnaissance survey in the Zoological Garden, and selected forested areas within Barangay Sumile on February 15-17, 2024. This project is in collaboration with the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎)-𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 (𝐋𝐆𝐔) 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞 that aims to undertake a series of biodiversity assessments (flora, macrofungi, arthropods, avifauna, herpetofauna, volant and non-volant mammals). These assessments are intended to gather ecologically anchored conclusions to support the designation of Barangay Sumile as a biodiversity hotspot and its potential establishment as a 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 (𝐋𝐂𝐀).

On March 13, 2024, the BD Corridor Project Team, under the leadership of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗔. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘆, gathered for an internal meeting at the CREME office, situated at CSU Ampayon, Butuan City

Situated at CSU Ampayon, Butuan City. The purpose of the gathering was to meticulously examine the progress, suggestions, and reviews pertaining to the inception report, which had been formally presented to the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) on March 11, 2024. During the session, Dr. Seronay and the project team examined the synthesis of the inception report, as deliberated upon by the DENR-Technical Working Group (TWG). Discussions primarily focused on the methodologies and suggested tools deemed essential for optimizing project outcomes. The emphasis was placed on identifying strategies that would ensure the project's efficiency and effectiveness.
